Largest Species
The Largest Species program was established to recognize the quality of fish and fisheries that North Dakota has to offer as well as the accomplishments of the anglers that pursue them. This program is open to Dakota Angler members and their families. There is an adult division and juniors division, there are not weight restrictions for the juniors division. Members with the heaviest fish in each species category will be awarded plaques and recognized at the annual meeting in April. Photos are not required but are encourage so we can feature them on our website and at the annual meeting. Program details are outlined below.
Adult Division Minimum Weight requirements by species:
Walleye - 4 lbs
Northern Pike - 10 lbs
Muskellunge - 15 lbs
Perch - 1 lb
Largemouth Bass - 3 lbs
Smallmouth Bass - 2 lbs
White Bass - 2 lbs
Trout - 2 lbs
Sunfish or Bluegill - 1 lb
Crappie - 1 lb
Salmon - 8 lbs
Contest runs from March 15th of the current year to March 14th of the following year
Photos are not required but are requested if possible
Entries must be submitted on a Dakota Anglers Largest Species Application (available at most bait shops and listed below)
Entries must indicate scale used for weighing
Entries must be signed by submitting individual and witness of catch
Entries must be caught in North Dakota
